Walter Nagl

Walter Nagl’s entire painting and sculptural work is determined by the tradition of the classical modern masters. His artistic themes are the human shape, especially the female nude and portraits, then still life and landscapes.

 

1960 Master school prize for the relief ‘Pflügender Bauer’ in the master class under Professor Andre.

 

1959-1963 Studies at the Akademie für Bildende Kunst / Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, master class for sculpture taught by Professor Hans Andre, painting (evening life drawings class ‘Abendakt’) with Professor Herbert Boeckl.

 

1954-1959 Attended the vocational school in Innsbruck, sculpture department. Practical work at the studio of the sculptor Anton Hörtnagen in Axams and at the Munich workshop for large scale sculptures in wood.

Following successful graduation, exceptional talent grant from the Tyrolean Regional Government for further training in Vienna.
